Police to get advanced bike training
Cycling police officers in Norfolk will be among the first in the country to
undertake advance cycle training. Police officers, wardens and police community
support officers are being offered six- hour specialist courses to ensure they
stay safe. "We already train officers how to drive carefully and, with a
significant proportion of Safer Neighbourhoods Teams on cycles, we have a duty
of care to ensure they are trained to stay safe on two wheels," said Chief
Inspector Nick Davison. "We are one of the first police forces in the country to
provide officers with formalised advanced cycle training." Training is being led
by Kevin Simpson, a qualified national standard instructor. He said:" The
training will ensure that cyclists are equipped with the right skills to be a
safe rider."
