Dear David,
I am writing to say how much I sympathise with Matthew in his Mutterings in the Autumn Newsletter. I was shocked to find that I could cycle through the underpass at Chapelfield without resorting to dismounting from my machine and donning my galoshes. I have even seen traffic wardens at work on Sprowston Road, Uttering windscreens with demanding bits of paper when parked on the single yellow on Sprowston Road!
But, as he records at the end of his article, the opposition to foot and bike is still alive and well. One is still requested to dismount at the ring road end of St Clement's Hill when using the crossing to Spixworth Road, and those lumps and bumps on the cycle path through Shipstone Road, between Heath Road and Waterloo Road, are still there to rival Pottergate.
Yours truly,
Cynthia Kirby
