Saturday June 28th 12.30-3.30pm
For the second year running there is to be a Norwich Peace cycle which will aim to build on last year's successful event and involve more people and attract wider participation.
The start and finish are to be at the amphitheatre of Norwich Forum and it is hoped that there will be a send off by the lord Mayor.
Anyone aged 16 or over (younger only if accompanied) who can safely and responsibly ride a bicycle is welcome to join and cycle for the sake of a peaceful and caring city. The route is a symbolic circuit around the old city walls or inner ring road, including a gathering at the Peace Memorial in Chapelfield Park. The ride is about 4 miles long and is taken at an easy pace so lasting about 1 hour in all.
The amphitheatre is booked from 11 to 4.30pm and the peace cycle should depart at approximately 1.30pm. A peace and charity event is planned to be held there starting at 1pm for all those not cycling and those cycling as well.
As last year, local charities and peace organisations will be represented and there will be the opportunity to send a peace message by balloon. It is also hoped that there will be a charity auction supported by local businesses and light food and refreshments, as well as the opportunity for some peace art as well.
Anyone who is committed to peace or who supports it and cares about the wellbeing of Norwich and wishes to give a message of peace to this city and on behalf of this city to elsewhere in the world, is welcome to bring their bicycle on June 28th and cycle for peace, or just to come to the Forum to join in the peace and charity event there.
