New City Centre Cycle Stands

Following requests from Norwich Cycling Campaign, the public, businesses and councillors, Norwich City Council have recently installed 46 new cycle stands (space for approx 92 cycles) across the city centre. Considerable care was taken with regard to the positioning, functionality and design of the new cycle stands.

These include key city centre locations: 

• Rail Station: Station Approach -  to serve rail commuters and Riverside leisure area
• Pottergate: to serve Job Centre and offices
• Tombland: Triangle island (removal of wheel grabber rack and replacement with Sheffield stands) and Samson & Hercules
• Upper St Giles: two locations
• Davey Place: two locations
• Gentleman's Walk: opposite White Lion Street junction
• Castle Street
• Castle Meadow (the longer stands removed from Tombland triangle were installed here to match style of existing provision)
• Magdalen Street: Fye Bridge
• Duke Street: end of Colegate
• Ber Street: opposite Lind showroom
   

All these new stands will be added to the map for the Cycle Streets app for Norwich.

The Council have also part funded 4 new stands in The Close by Norwich School  and through the planning process negotiated 4 new stands on Wherry Road (Riverside leisure area)
